Mangaluru: NIA announces Rs ten lac reward for tracing missing naxals

Mangaluru, Oct 21: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of ten lac rupees each for finding two naxals from the state relating to the case at Vellamunda, Kerala.

The two persons for whom a search is on are Geetha alias Sundari alias Sindhu from Kotyantadka, Kuthloor, Beltangady taluk, and Jayanna alias John alias Mahesh alias Marappa from Ambedkar Colony in Aroli vllage, Raichur district. Both have succeeded in remaining elusive so far.

A few years back, a reward of two lac rupees had been announced for finding them out. As they remain untraced, the amount of the reward has been hiked and public announcement has been made along with a fresh warrant.

The case relates to an incident in which naxals Rupesh, Anu, Jayanna, Kanya and Sundari, duly armed, had arrived at the house of police officer Pramod in Wayanad district Kerala within Vellamunda police station limits on April 24, 2014. At that time, death threat was posed and the officer was pressurized to resign from job. His bike was torched and warning of starting revolution against the state was posed. Kerala police had filed charge sheet relating to the case in the year 2016.
