Udupi, Oct 2: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) promoted by Shri Sode Vadiraja Matha located at Bantakal Udupi has achieved yet another milestone on the way towards reaching excellency in academic sector. Having accredited with A grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the year 2019, SMVITM has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation New Delhi. These two accreditation status are awarded after assessing the quality of education being offered by the institution. It is worth noting that, SMVITM is the only institution in the coastal Karnataka region to bag these two prestigious accreditation in just 11 years of being in existence. These recognitions reflect the quality of education being given to the students and thereby its commitment towards providing holistic education to its students.
At SMVITM in addition to the existing BE courses (Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering) two new courses namely Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have been introduced from this academic year. Having visualized the high demand for the skilled IT professionals in the areas of machine learning and Data Science these two new courses have been introduced. It is envisioned that, the graduates of these two new courses would find ample opportunities in the industry.
The institution takes every measure to ensure the placement of every student who joins SMVITM. Regular placement trainings are imparted to the students by professional trainers on regular basis. As a result our students have been successfully placed in reputed companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Amazon, HP, SAP Labs and the like. In spite of the pandemic, in the academic year 2020-21, we have been able to place almost 85% of the students from circuit branches.
As per the new National Education policy, the undergraduate BSc would be expanded to a four year course and would be offered in identified colleges by VTU Belagavi. It is pride to say that, SMVITM is one such college where university has asked for our consent to start this new course in our campus. SMVITM will be starting this course as per the guidelines of VTU.
Future plans:
Starting of new four year BSc course under VTU, in line with National Education Policy. Establishment of Technology Incubation Center in order to encourage young entrepreneurs to materialize their innovative ideas. Encouragement and guidance to the students to be entrepreneurs and also guidance to make use of Startup India- Stand up India – Digital India projects promoted by Govt. of India. By making usage of renewable energy resources, transformation towards eco-friendly campus.
Admission process for the 2021-22 year has already started and the response for CSE, ECE, AI&AL and AI&DS courses is overwhelming. The management quota seats for these courses are almost filled. Similar response from CET is anticipated. This is the indication of the faith of parents and students on SMVITM and the institution continues its commitment towards strengthening this faith. A few seats are available in Civil and Mechanical Engineering courses. Interested students may approach the college office.
In a short span of just 11 years, SMVITM has crossed many milestones and marching towards its vision of becoming global educational hub. The accreditation by NAAC and NBA is the validation for the fact that institution is in the right path. We are committed to continue our efforts in the education sector and thereby to realize the dream of Shri Madhwa University in the near future. SMVITM is not just an institute which produces engineering graduates. It is working towards the holistic development of the students and thereby inculcating the zeal for innovation, commitment to realize the innovative concepts for the betterment of the society. Being focused to become global educational hub, institute also focuses on developing leadership qualities, entrepreneurship skills among students and thereby presenting them as pride citizens who can contribute to the development of the nation.
