Mangaluru, Dec 29: If a Hindu child is left without a name even six months after birth in a constituency that repeatedly claims to champion Hindutva, then Hindutva itself should feel ashamed, said K P Nanjundi, state president of the Vishwakarma community.
Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here, Nanjundi spoke about the case involving BJP leader Jagannivasa Rao’s son Krishna J Rao, who is accused of harassing a woman without marrying her after she gave birth to his child. He said justice must be ensured for women irrespective of caste or religion, and alleged that vested interests were attempting to deny justice to the poor.

“Such incidents give a message that anyone can abandon responsibility after fathering children. Times will change and justice will be delivered, but the delay causes deep anguish,” he said, clarifying that his concern was not about caste but about injustice faced by the economically weaker sections.
Nanjundi said that even after the DNA report identified Krishna J Rao as the biological father, he had expected Hindu leaders, including Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and Nalin Kumar Kateel, to intervene and ensure justice. However, he alleged that no action had been taken so far and that arguments were still being made denying the child’s parentage despite the DNA evidence.
“I have played many roles in life, but I cannot act with such hardness of heart. If cases like this are suppressed simply because the affected family lacks political or financial strength, then what value does the Constitution hold?” he questioned.
