Mumbai, Aug 7: Music composer Amit Trivedi has announced his upcoming independent album, 'Unsung Unreleased', featuring songs that were originally composed for films but never made it to the final cut.

Known for acclaimed soundtracks of films such as Dev.D, Lootera, Queen and Bombay Velvet, Trivedi said the six-track album aims to give a new life to compositions that remained unreleased despite their artistic value.

The teaser of the album was unveiled on Friday.

Explaining the idea behind the project, Trivedi said the inspiration was to ensure that songs did not remain unheard simply because they were eventually dropped from the films for which they had been created.

"The thought behind 'Unsung Unreleased' was simple, why should a song have to wait just because it didn't eventually make it into the film it was created for? If I still believe in the song and feel it deserves to be heard, I'd rather release it independently and let it find its own audience," he said.

The first song from the album will be released on August 12, while the remaining five tracks will be unveiled at intervals of 15 days.

Trivedi said that although the films may have changed, the songs retained their emotional and creative significance.

"The film may have changed, but that doesn't take away from what the song was meant to be. That's really where 'Unsung Unreleased' comes from, giving these songs a life beyond the films they were originally created for. And in many ways, being an independent artist gives me the freedom to finally let them be heard," he added.

The album will be released through AT Azaad, Trivedi's independent music label and YouTube channel.
