Mangaluru, Aug 2: The honorary awards and book prize of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy of 2020 were presented to the awardees at Kudmul Ranga Rao Townhall on Sunday August 1.

MLA Vedavyasa Kamath said, “A 37-cent land has been sanctioned near Urwa for the construction of Konkani Bhavan. We are expecting to get the RTC for the same within a week. Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned for the construction and the work will be taken up soon.”

Arun Subrav Ubhayakar (literature), Puttur Panduranga Nayak (art) and Lakshmi Krishna Siddi (folk) were conferred the honorary awards while book prizes were awarded to Prem Moras for his poem ‘Ekmoot Pavlyo’, Monica D’Sa’s short story ‘Navidiha’ and Steevan Quadras’s article ‘Sugandu Swas’.

President of Konkani Sahitya Acedamy Jagadish Pai, MLC Prathap Simha Nayak, mayor Premananda Shetty, president of Tulu Sahitya Acedamy Dayanand Kathalsar, president of Beary Sahitya Acedamy Rahim Ucchil, and film actor Henry D’Silva was also present.

Konkani academy member Arvind G Shet welcomed the gathering, registrar Manohar G Kamath rendered the vote of thanks and member Canute Jeevan Pinto compered the event.
