Hyderabad: Amar Singh - Bollywood's Next Big Thing?

Yahoo India

Hyderabad, Jan 10: Amar Singh loves the world of glitz and glamour so much that the Samajwadi party leader has decided to hit the silver screen.

Reversing the trend of actors-turning-politicians, Amar Singh is returning to the big screen in a guest appearance in a Bengali film, Ashoke Vishwanath's Shesh Sanghat .

"I have been born and brought up in Bengal and I love Calcutta and Bengali people and Bengal. This is my small, humble tribute to the city which has made me what I am today," said Singh.

Shesh Sanghat , a remake of the Telugu super-hit Osce Ramulamma , is about a Dalit woman who takes the help of Naxals in her fight for justice.

Also starring in the Bangla version are actors Jackie Shroff and Jaya Prada.

In the film, Amar Singh virtually plays himself, as a retired state government minister.

"I agreed to do this movie primarily for Jaya Pradaji," Singh said.

Meanwhile, his co-star is all praise for the debutant.

"Once shot, there is no retake. It's like, we are the ones who cannot work properly. Politicians can do our work with ease," quipped Jackie Shroff.

Wonder what happens if the man gets jittery when facing the camera? Maybe phones-a-friend - the Big B?
