Bantwal, Jul 29: An expatriate who had returned to his hometown from Bahrain just a week ago tragically passed away after experiencing severe chest pain following a cricket match on July 26.
The deceased has been identified as Divakar Shetty (52), son of Seetharama Shetty and Pushpavathi, residents of Bengrodi in Kepu village. He was employed at a restaurant in Bahrain and was known to be a good cricket player.
According to family sources, Divakar had gone to an indoor ground in Chandalike near Vittal to play cricket with his friends and relatives. Shortly after the game ended, as he was preparing to head back home, he suddenly complained of severe chest pain.

He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Vittal, where doctors administered first aid and advised the family to shift him to a hospital in Puttur for advanced treatment. However, upon reaching the hospital in Puttur, the doctors examined him and pronounced him dead.
He is survived by his wife, a son, and his parents.
