Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship to tee-off Tuesday


New Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS): A total of 86 Indian and international amateur golfers will be in the fray for the fifth Usha DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship which gets underway at the Delhi Golf Club course here Tuesday.

The championship 2014 - formerly the Northern India Ladies Amateur Golf Championship - is now in its 27th year and will run till Thursday.

This extremely prestigious and popular 54 hole amateur tournament has attracted participants from all over India and Sanjoli Singh from Muscat, who returns to the national fray after a hiatus of 22 years, having taken up residence in Muscat.

Sanjoli, as the Muscat Open Champion takes on leading national players who have represented India internationally including defending champion Gauri Monga, Shiraz Singh, Tvesa Malik, Amandeep Drall, Arshia Mahant alongwith nine-year-old Hunar Mittal who participated overseas this summer.
