Hyderabad, Nov 5: Actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Tabu are set to reunite on screen after nearly 28 years in the upcoming Telugu film ‘King100’, with the makers unveiling Tabu's first character glimpse on her 55th birthday on November 4.

Tabu plays Mahanthi Jhansi Rani, a powerful and influential political figure, in the film, which marks Nagarjuna's 100th project as an actor. The first-look poster and a special video released by the makers offer a glimpse of her commanding screen presence and a character who believes in hard work rather than luck.

The video opens with an old-style radio playing the song ‘Yeto Vellipoindhi’ as Tabu walks in wearing a saree. The mood then shifts with a powerful background score composed by Devi Sri Prasad, as she makes a striking entry. The visuals also show her taking an oath of office, suggesting that her character occupies an influential position in politics.

In the glimpse, Mahanthi Jhansi Rani declares that there are two kinds of people in the world — those who believe in hard work and those who believe in luck — before making it clear that she dislikes relying on luck. The promotional video also carries the line, ‘This time, it's not love... it's war’, hinting at a different dynamic between the two lead actors.

Nagarjuna shared Tabu's first-look poster on X and wished her on her birthday. Recalling their earlier collaboration in the Telugu film ‘Ninne Pelladatha’, he wrote that audiences would remember her as Pandu from the film and would now remember her as Mahanthi Jhansi Rani. He also praised her contribution, saying she had made the film special.

The reunion is particularly significant for fans of the actors, who previously worked together in ‘Ninne Pelladatha’ (1996) and ‘Aavida Maa Aavide’ (1998).

Written and directed by Ra Karthik, ‘King100’ is produced by Annapurna Studios and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026. The film is described as a commercial entertainer combining family drama and other elements.

According to Nagarjuna's earlier interview with Variety India, the story revolves around the relationship between a father and his daughter and traces their journey from poverty to wealth. The actor also revealed that de-ageing technology would be used to portray him at different stages of life.

The makers have so far kept several details of the storyline under wraps, with Nagarjuna indicating that the team intends to make further announcements at an appropriate time.

Apart from Nagarjuna and Tabu, the film features Sushmita Bhatt, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ashok Selvan and Ravindra Vijay in important roles.

Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music, Raja Mahadhevan is handling cinematography, Navin Nooli is the editor and Sathees Kumar N is the production designer.

With Tabu's powerful political avatar and the reunion of the two established actors, ‘King100’ has generated interest ahead of its December release.
