Tehran, Nov 4: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said that four oil tankers were destroyed after striking naval mines while attempting to navigate a route it had declared prohibited, south of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement issued on November 4, the elite military force said the tankers remained ablaze following the explosions. It also announced that two other vessels had been seized.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a strategically important route for global oil shipments.
