Udupi, May 15: The construction work of the Ambalpady flyover, which has been underway for the past one-and-a-half years, has now reached its final stage. Udupi-Chikkamagaluru member of parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary inspected the progress of the flyover works along with officials.
Speaking about the project, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the flyover is being constructed to reduce traffic congestion and recurring accidents at Ambalpady caused by heavy vehicular movement. He stated that once the flyover is opened to traffic, the congestion issue is expected to be largely brought under control.

Although efforts are being made to complete the first phase of the flyover work by the end of May, he noted that due to technical reasons, one section of the flyover will be opened for vehicular movement in the first week of June.
He further informed that attempts are being made to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe, adding that the work has finally reached its concluding stage owing to constant pressure from the public and commuters.
During the site visit, national highways department engineer Naveen and other officials were present along with the MP.
