Mangaluru: Teen held in MDMA bust; drugs worth Rs 1.06 lac seized in Ullal

Mangaluru, Mar 22: In a targeted anti-drug operation, Konaje police arrested a 19-year-old youth allegedly involved in peddling narcotics and seized MDMA along with paraphernalia from his possession at a public location in Ullal taluk.

Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H identified the accused as Mohammed Zakir, a resident of Kasaba Bengre.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from Konaje police station carried out a raid near Fiza Grounds in Belma village on Sunday, March 22, where the accused was reportedly supplying drugs to customers, including college students.

During the operation, officers apprehended Zakir and recovered 10.6 grams of MDMA, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 1.06 lac.

Police also seized a mobile phone, a weighing scale, a smoke tube, a syringe, a cigarette lighter, and a motorcycle without a registration number.

A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 22(a), 22(b), and 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Authorities said further investigation is under way to trace the source of the contraband and determine any wider network linked to the accused.
