Mangaluru, Feb 21: The Department of Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology at Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences organised a model presentation activity on “Advanced Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Practices” for third-year BSc. Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology (AOTT) students, reinforcing experiential and outcome-based learning.
The academic initiative was coordinated by Sowjanya, lecturer, Department of Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology, with the objective of strengthening theoretical understanding through practical model-based demonstrations. The activity aimed at integrating classroom learning with clinical application, while also fostering critical thinking, analytical abilities, communication skills and collaborative learning.

As part of the structured presentation session, students were divided into groups and assigned curriculum-based topics covering advanced anaesthesia techniques, operation theatre protocols, equipment management and perioperative patient care. Each group designed and developed detailed working models representing their respective topics, highlighting anatomical relevance, procedural steps, equipment usage and clinical importance.
During the presentations, students explained their models comprehensively, demonstrating clarity of concepts, subject expertise and professional communication skills. The session reflected meticulous preparation, teamwork and coordination among participants. Faculty members provided continuous academic guidance and evaluation to ensure accuracy, relevance and adherence to professional standards.
The activity significantly strengthened students’ conceptual clarity and clinical correlation while enhancing their ability to articulate technical knowledge effectively. It also helped develop leadership qualities, teamwork and professional confidence among the participants.
All third-year AOTT students actively participated in the programme, presenting their models with enthusiasm and academic competence.
The department stated that the initiative served as an effective pedagogical approach to bridge theoretical learning with practical understanding, reaffirming its commitment to innovative teaching methodologies and holistic professional development of students.
