Hyderabad, Feb 21: Telugu actor Nani on Saturday launched the trailer of Saraswathi, marking the directorial debut of actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar.

Sharing the trailer on his X handle, Nani expressed pride in supporting his friend’s new journey as a filmmaker. He praised the dedication she invested in the project and extended his best wishes to the entire team. The film is produced by Varalaxmi along with her sister Pooja under their banner Dosa Diaries, with music composed by S. Thaman.

The trailer opens on a tense note, with Varalaxmi’s character seated anxiously at a police station after her daughter, Saraswathi, goes missing. She explains that she personally dropped the child at school, only to be told later that the girl was no longer there when she arrived to pick her up.

Actors Priyamani and Kishore are shown grappling with a similar nightmare, frantically searching school premises after being informed that all students had already left. As panic spreads, the police initiate an investigation, while Varalaxmi insists that her daughter would never leave without informing her.

With no concrete evidence to support her claims, the distraught mother seeks legal help from advocate Ramanunajam, portrayed by Prakash Raj. Though initially hesitant due to the lack of proof, the lawyer eventually agrees to represent her in court. The narrative hints at a prolonged legal struggle and suggests that justice may remain elusive.

In a dramatic turn, the trailer concludes with Varalaxmi arming herself and learning to handle a firearm, delivering a powerful line that not every woman remains gentle like Saraswathi — when pushed, she can transform into Kali.

The film features an ensemble cast including Radhikaa Sarathkumar and Naveen Chandra. The technical team includes cinematographer Edwin Sakay, editor Venkat Raajen, art director Sudheer, and choreographer Brinda, adding strong creative backing to the intense social drama.
