Hosapete (Vijayanagar), Dec 21: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday inaugurated VijAIpatha labs in five government schools in Hosapete taluk, aimed at providing students hands-on learning in artificial intelligence (AI), STEM, robotics, coding, and digital innovation. The labs will benefit over 2,000 students from classes 6 to 10, including those from rural and underprivileged communities.
At Amaravati Government Girls’ Pre-University College, two classrooms have been converted into AI labs to benefit 1,200 students. Each lab is equipped with computers and other learning resources at a total cost of around Rs 1 crore. Teachers and select students have already received initial training. Additional labs have been set up at schools in Chittavadi, T.B. Dam, Kariganur, and Jambunath Halli.

Students briefed Minister Sitharaman on AI applications. “The aim is to provide quality education in AI and prepare students for future technological challenges. This initiative will strengthen digital readiness among rural students and reduce the technology access gap in underprivileged communities,” she said.
