Udupi: Accused held for ganja peddling; drugs worth Rs 1 lac seized

Udupi, Feb 12: Police have arrested absconding accused, 26-year-old Mohammed Ajmal from Kerala for allegedly selling ganja near Syndicate Circle. A total of 2,084 grams of ganja, valued at Rs 1 lac, has been seized from him.

Five persons who were supplied ganja by the accused have also been taken into custody. It has been confirmed that they had consumed the narcotic substance, and cases have been registered against all five at Manipal police station.

Based on credible information received by Manipal police, a raid was conducted in August last year at an apartment near Eshwarnagar. During the operation, it was found that Apshin and Shivanidhi Acharya were storing and selling narcotic substances. Approximately ganja worth Rs 50,000 was seized from them.

Following leads in the case, police arrested Manish from Kasargod. Based on the information provided by him, Mohammed Ajmal has now been arrested. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
