Kota, Nov 5: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has found himself in legal trouble after a complaint was filed against him for endorsing a pan masala brand allegedly involved in misleading consumers through surrogate advertising.

According to ANI reports, BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey lodged the complaint at the Kota Consumer Court against Salman Khan and the manufacturers of Rajshree Pan Masala. The court has issued notices to both parties, seeking their formal responses. The next hearing is scheduled for November 27.

Inder Mohan Singh has demanded a ban on the advertisements featuring Salman Khan, claiming they mislead consumers. Speaking to ANI, he said, “Salman Khan is a role model for many people. Celebrities in other countries don’t even promote cold drinks, but here they are endorsing tobacco and pan masala. Such ads send the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer.”

He further pointed out that the brand promotes a saffron-infused mouth freshener and cardamom variant, which is misleading since genuine saffron costs nearly ?4 lakh per kg—an ingredient unlikely to be found in a product priced at Rs 5.

While Salman Khan is the face of Rajshree Elaichi advertisements, he has not appeared in any commercial directly promoting pan masala.

On the work front, the actor is currently hosting Bigg Boss 19 and shooting for his upcoming film Battle of Galwan. Recently, he went viral online for flaunting his toned physique after facing criticism for weight gain.
