Hyderabad, Nov 5: Actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who is returning to the big screen with the mythological horror saga Jatadhara, spoke fondly about her brother-in-law Mahesh Babu during a recent interview with Prema. Sharing her admiration for the Tollywood superstar, Shilpa described him as “one of the kindest souls” she has ever met.

“He is family and one of the kindest souls I’ve met. As an actor, I’m a fan of Mahesh. He is my brother-in-law and someone who only wants the best for everyone. There’s no malice, jealousy, or envy in him — he’s exactly what you see,” Shilpa said.

When asked if she ever discussed working with Mahesh in a film, Shilpa replied, “No, I haven’t crossed that path yet. But maybe if Jatadhara does well... I haven’t asked him about it.”

Jatadhara stars Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha alongside Shilpa and marks her major comeback to cinema after years of focusing on television.

For those unfamiliar, Shilpa’s sister Namrata Shirodkar, a former actor and beauty queen, has been married to Mahesh Babu for two decades. The couple has two children, Gautam and Sitara, who have also shown interest in acting.

Shilpa, who took a long break from films after MF Husain’s 2000 film Gaja Gamini, later appeared in TV serials like Ek Mutthi Aasmaan, Silsila Pyaar Ka, and Savitri Devi College & Hospital. She was last seen in the 2020 Hindi film Guns of Banaras.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu was last seen in Trivikram Srinivas’ Guntur Kaaram and is currently working with SS Rajamouli on a grand action-adventure tentatively titled SSMB 29, co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
