Nuh, Nov 5: A 14-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Ghasera village of Nuh district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident came to light after the girl, who lives with her father, fell ill last week and was taken to a doctor. During medical examination, it was revealed that she was seven months pregnant. According to police, the boy, who resides in the same locality, had sexually assaulted the girl multiple times over the past seven to eight months.

Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, an FIR was registered under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Women’s Police Station in Nuh on Saturday night.

“The minor boy was apprehended on Sunday and sent to an observation home in Faridabad after being produced before the Juvenile Justice Board,” said Krishan Kumar, Public Relations Officer of Nuh Police.

Police said that the matter has been referred to the Health Department and the Department of Women and Child Development. A medical board will be constituted to examine the victim and the condition of the foetus. Based on the report, authorities will decide whether the minor should be allowed to continue the pregnancy for adoption later, or if it should be medically terminated after obtaining court permission, depending on the girl’s health and safety.
