Bengaluru, Oct 23: In today’s market, adulteration has become commonplace in most food items—from milk and curd to everyday essentials. Adding to this concern is the growing menace of counterfeit brands, making it increasingly difficult for consumers to distinguish between genuine and fake products.
To maintain the trust that customers have placed in its brand, Karnataka’s pride, Nandini, has now turned to advanced technology to help identify counterfeit and adulterated products with ease.

Speaking on the issue, KMF managing director Shivaswamy said that very soon, all Nandini products will feature a QR code containing detailed product information. Consumers will be able to verify the authenticity of the item simply by scanning it. He further warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in counterfeiting or adulteration.
Shivaswamy added that KMF collects about one crore litres of milk daily, of which 65 lakh litres of milk, curd, and other products reach consumers. Nandini products are also being exported to Dubai and Singapore, and KMF is now developing sugar-free sweets catering to the needs of diabetic customers.
‘No price hike for Nandini milk and products’
Animal husbandry minister K Venkatesh clarified that there is currently no proposal to increase the price of Nandini milk or its products. He acknowledged that production costs have risen but highlighted Nandini’s strong market performance.
“Last year, 725 metric tonnes of Nandini sweets were sold. This year, we had set a target of 1,000 metric tonnes but achieved 1,100 metric tonnes, recording a turnover of Rs 46 crore, the highest-ever in KMF’s history,” the minister said.
