Amaravati, Feb 12: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leadership has delivered a strong message to Tiruvuru MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao, cautioning that any further acts of indiscipline will invite strict action.

TDP state president Palla Srinivas met the legislator on Thursday and conveyed a clear warning on behalf of party national president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The leadership has reportedly taken serious note of Rao’s continued criticism of fellow party leaders, despite earlier advisories.

According to party sources, Srinivas firmly told the MLA that the organisation’s interests supersede individual ambitions, stressing that no leader is above the party. He is understood to have reminded Rao that his political standing is rooted in the party’s support and symbol.

The meeting also addressed controversial social media posts allegedly made by Rao and his supporters, targeting other TDP leaders. The state president reportedly expressed concern that such actions were harming the party’s public image and internal unity.

Srinivas conveyed that Chandrababu Naidu views the matter seriously and has warned that continued misconduct could lead to the party distancing itself from Rao, including withdrawing recognition of him as its MLA.

In response, Rao reportedly described his actions as mistakes stemming from inexperience. He assured the leadership that he would correct his conduct going forward and sought guidance from senior party members.

The Tiruvuru MLA has been at odds with certain party figures, including TDP MP Kesineni Chinni, and has remained in the spotlight since his election from the Tiruvuru constituency in NTR district in 2024.

Rao has faced repeated warnings from the party in the past and had appeared before its disciplinary committee last year. In January, he was embroiled in controversy following allegations linked to a family dispute in Gopalapuram village. A woman, reportedly distressed over the incident and alleged misconduct, attempted suicide by consuming poison. The matter drew political attention, with accusations that the MLA had verbally abused and assaulted a supporter of the opposition YSR Congress Party.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had earlier summoned Rao and advised him to change his approach. He was also called before the party’s coordination committee, headed by the state president, as part of efforts to address the recurring controversies.

With the latest warning, the TDP leadership has signalled its intent to enforce discipline and maintain cohesion within the party ranks.
