12-year-old boy dies by electrocution while playing at home in Zuarinagar

Vasco, Sep 1: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Zuarinagar, Sancoale, on Sunday when a 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being electrocuted at home.

The victim has been identified as Mustagahmed Suranagi, a native of Haveri, Karnataka, who was living with his family in Goa. According to the Verna Police, the accident occurred when the boy attempted to retrieve a ball that had rolled underneath a refrigerator. In doing so, he came into contact with live electrical current and collapsed immediately.

Family members rushed the unconscious child to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Cansaulim, but doctors pronounced him brought dead on arrival.

Police officials from Verna conducted a panchanama at the scene and have preserved the body at the South Goa District Hospital in Margao for a post-mortem and other medico-legal formalities.

Authorities confirmed that the boy’s death was a tragic accident, occurring while he was innocently playing at home. A case of unnatural death has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation is currently being led by PSI Rajdatt Arsekar from Verna Police Station, under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar, and overall guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
