Continuous heavy rain disrupts life in Dakshina Kannada

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Aug 28: Continuous heavy rain that began on Wednesday evening intensified further on Thursday, August 28, lashing various parts of Dakshina Kannada district.

The downpour caused severe damage to temporary public Ganesh festival pandals set up across the region. Religious activities organized in front of Ganesh idols were also disrupted due to the rain.

In Mangaluru city, several low-lying areas including Kodialbail, Kottara Chowki, Pumpwell, and Jyothi Circle witnessed flooding, with roads turning into streams. Water also entered houses, leaving normal life thrown out of gear.

Owing to the heavy rainfall, a holiday was declared for schools and colleges in Mangaluru, Puttur, Mulki, Moodbidri, Ullal, Bantwal and Beltangady taluks on August 28.
