Mangaluru: Dr Devadas Kapikad conferred 'Press Club Guest of Honour Award'

Mangaluru, Aug 27: The 'Press Club Guest of Honour Award' was presented to noted actor and director Dr Devadas Kapikad at a ceremony held at the Press Club here on Tuesday, August 26.

Head of the department of journalism at Srinivas University, Sushmitha S Kotian, inaugurated the guest of honour event.

Speaking on the occasion, Sushmitha said, “I sincerely thank the Press Club for inviting the students to this programme. Such opportunities give them valuable knowledge and experience, which are essential for their growth. It is encouraging to see students being included in such events, and I extend special thanks to the Press Club for supporting young learners.”

After receiving the award, Dr Devadas Kapikad said, “Life is full of struggles, but like a family, we must face them together. I recall the fun of college days and the challenges of family problems that shape us. Such experiences build resilience and help us grow stronger.

“At the same time, students should never suppress their talents but showcase them with confidence. Every individual’s ability is a gift not just for themselves but also for society. With determination and courage, one can overcome obstacles and achieve success,” he said.

President of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union Srinivas Nayak Indaje, president of Mangaluru Press Club P B Harish Rai, president of Patrika Bhavana Trust Annu Mangaluru, general secretary Ibrahim Adkastala, programme convenor Sathish Ira, and others were present.
