Mangaluru, Aug 23: The Education Commission of the Apostolic Carmel, Karnataka Province organised a seminar for the kindergarten educators of various schools of the province at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru with the theme ‘Shaping Little Hearts with Love’ on August 23rd.
The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer service followed by a creative “Eagle of Qualities” welcome by the staff of MCCS, symbolising the noble attributes of teachers.













































Principal Sr Melissa warmly welcomed the gathering and delivered an inspiring message on the importance of early childhood education.
The seminar was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, Sr Maria Sudeepa AC, secretary of the Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, resource person madam Akila Victoria Martin, administrator of the school Sr Carissima AC, principal Sr Melissa AC, and Chethan, area manager of Orient Blackswan Publication.
In her inaugural address, Sr Maria Sudeepa encouraged the participants to actively participate in the seminar, emphasising the pivotal role of early childhood education in shaping strong foundations for lifelong learning. The inauguration was smoothly emceed by Tr Joyce, while Tr Sumana introduced the chief guest with warmth and grace.
The resource person of the day Akila Victoria Martin, a trainer from Orient Blackswan Publications started the session by explaining NCF Framework followed by sessions on joyful activity-based learning, usage of mother tongue and multi lingualism.
Post morning break after a nourishing lunch, Martin continued her session stressing on the domains of holistic development and holistic progress card. She also emphasised the role of a teacher from a teacher to become a facilitator and a nurturer stressing on touching, feeling, feeding the hearts of the children more than the cognition part. A few yet important classroom strategies were expounded with examples. The culmination of the seminar was transmitted beautifully, creatively and mindfully through different activities showcased by the facilitators as groups. It was very heart-warming to hear the feedback given by the facilitators to each other.
At the end of the day, teacher Iona Dias from St Cecily’s CBSE School, Udupi, rendered a heartfelt note of thanks. The day’s programme concluded on an enlightening note, equipping the educators with renewed knowledge, inspiration and commitment as kindergarten educators. With smiling faces, the teachers relaxed over a cup of hot tea before they parted with each other from Mount Carmel campus.
