Two killed, one seriously injured in motorcycle crash on Eastern Express highway

Vikhroli, Mar 13: Two young men lost their lives and another was seriously injured after a high-speed motorcycle crashed into another bike on the Eastern Express Highway near Vikhroli on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the accident took place around 3:45 pm on March 10. Electrical engineer Sachin Shankar Wadi, a resident of Jogeshwari East, was riding his motorcycle towards Thane from the Pachkhadda side when another motorcycle approached from behind at high speed.

The second vehicle, a Hero Xtreme carrying three riders, allegedly rammed into Wadi’s bike, causing him to fall on the road. After the impact, the motorcycle lost control and crashed into a roadside tree.

Passers-by and police rushed all four injured persons to Swami Veer Savarkar Hospital. Doctors declared 17-year-old Praveen Munnalal Yadav, a resident of Bhandup West, dead on arrival. Another rider, Raj Arjan Kahar (20), later died while undergoing treatment.

The third rider, Gulshan Yadav (20), also from Bhandup West, suffered severe injuries and was later shifted to Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion Hospital) for further treatment. Wadi sustained injuries to his left arm and right palm.

Police said the collision also damaged Wadi’s motorcycle, breaking its right indicator and front mirror. A case has been registered against the rider of the Hero Xtreme motorcycle for rash and negligent driving leading to death and injuries. Authorities said further investigation is ongoing.
