Udupi, Aug 8: In a tragic road accident on National Highway 66 near Hejmadi old NBC Road on Friday afternoon, a speeding express bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Karkala collided with a scooter, killing its rider.

The deceased has been identified as Tushar (20), a resident of Kodi Manampady in Hejmadi. He is survived by his mother and three brothers.

The accident occurred when Tushar, who was on duty, attempted to cross the highway from the Hejmadi inner road toll gate towards Mulki on his scooter. The bus, coming at high speed, hit him, causing the scooter to get trapped under the vehicle’s front.

Tushar sustained severe head and chest injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Mukka by the Hejmadi toll ambulance, but despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.

Tushar was employed with Project India Company at the New Mangalore Port.

So sad and this accident and death could have avoided.Simply crossing road without looking the traffic. Now bus driver must live with this death under his bus. There are more two or four (Cars)wheelers on road than our whole Population? Heartfelt sympathies to his family.May his soul rest in Peace.

Problems are mainly with the two wheelers on highways and cross roads.. they come from anywhere anytime without watching the traffic...some of them even ride on the center of the highway lanes blocking the other vehicles as if the entire lane belong to them. This will not change and accidents are bound to happen...bottom line is no one cares and no value for human life. We are a over populated country and least bother.

In this case we can't blame bus driver. Two wheelers should be more careful.

Our highways are better now, and we need better and safer roads High time we drive carefully. A young life lost, and I am feeling very sad. Please drive with caution. There is not even one day without the news of a major accident. I feel very depressed
