Mangaluru, Aug 8: Road work on the stretch from Nanthoor to Surathkal commenced on August 7, as per the advisory issued by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The maintenance work will continue until August 13.
To minimize traffic congestion, the work is scheduled between 11 am and 3 pm and during night hours. On the first day (August 7), work was carried out between KIOCL and Panambur.
The ongoing maintenance includes pothole filling, patch repairs, and drain cleaning—all aimed at improving road conditions and ensuring smoother traffic flow.

The old Kulur bridge, previously riddled with potholes, was recently repaired with interlocking blocks and a fresh layer of tar. That work was completed a week ago.
However, potholes have reappeared along various sections between Nanthoor and Surathkal, and repairs for these are scheduled during the August 7–13 window.
The key concern now is whether these patchworks will withstand the ongoing monsoon, as Mangaluru continues to experience heavy rainfall.
