One arrested for assault on YouTubers in Dharmasthala

Beltangady, Aug 7: Dharmasthala police have arrested one person in connection with the assault on four YouTubers at Pangala Cross in Dharmasthala village on the evening of August 6. The attackers had also damaged cameras and issued life threats during the incident.

The arrested accused has been identified as Somanath Sapalya (48), a jeep driver and resident of Kanyadi, police said. He wsa nabbed from Kokkada.

A case has been registered under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 115(2), 324(5), 352, 307 along with 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against a group of approximately 15 to 50 individuals.

The arrest was made on August 7 by a police team led by Dharmasthala police station sub-inspector Samarth R Ganigera, after identifying the accused.

Accused Somnath was produced before the court, and has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
