As obesity rates continue to rise globally, with health experts linking it to lifestyle diseases like diabetes, fatty liver, and certain cancers, maintaining a healthy weight has become more important than ever. While fad diets and intense workouts may dominate fitness trends, researchers say that almonds when consumed mindfully can aid in cutting down calorie intake without sacrificing satisfaction.

A 2022 study conducted by the University of South Australia sheds light on this. The research revealed that snacking on 30–50 grams of almonds daily significantly reduced energy consumption during subsequent meals, especially in comparison to carb-heavy snacks. Most of the reduced calories were from unhealthy junk food choices, the study noted.
“Appetite regulation through hormonal balance could be a key to better weight management,” said Dr Sharayah Carter, from UniSA’s Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA). “Our findings suggest almonds can positively influence this response.”
