Bantwal: Man crushed to death in tragic scooter-lorry collision near Ajjibettu cross

Bantwal, Jun 30: In a tragic road accident reported near Ajjibettu Cross in B C Road, Bantwal, a 50-year-old scooter rider lost his life on the spot after a collision with a tanker lorry on Monday, June 30.

The deceased has been identified as Chidananda, a resident of Koppala in Shambur.

According to sources, the accident occurred while Chidananda was attempting to cross the road at Ajjibettu Cross after returning from the BC Road market. A tanker lorry heading towards Mangaluru reportedly hit his scooter at high speed, dragging him under the wheels and killing him instantly.

Chidananda was employed with the Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (DRDP). He is survived by his wife, a guest teacher at Shambur School, and two children — a son and a daughter.

The sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom over the community and among DRDP colleagues.

Bantwal Traffic Police visited the spot and have registered a case in connection with the incident.

Further investigation is underway.

    This crossing point to Ajjibettu or moving to More Retail store is very dangerous as vehicles coming towards this cross when moving to Mangalore travel in high speed as they descend from Flyover and meet vehicles moving on service road and buses going to Mangalore from KSRTC bus stand as well. Unscientific Flyover and drivers forgetting to follow safe mode while crossing to Ajjibettu or crossing in opposite direction caused this accident

    Oh my God.What a tragic and sad accident/Death?Cant imagine.One must always try to cross road where you have to cross.Not middle of road or where too much traffic is there.Mostly tanker lorrys/or a big vehicles are bad to control when someone cross the road where it is not allowed.However now poor fellow lost his life.May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathies to his family.Driver of unluck lorry must have to answer now .Who knows how he feels and whose fault it was only Police can decide.
