Bantwal, Mar 12: Panic prevailed for some hours in the vicinity of Mani veterinary hospital as wildfire occurred opposite to the hospital on Saturday.
The accidental fire was noticed on Mani-Mysore national highway.

The fire spread to an area just beside the highway.

BJP leader Ganesh Rai Mani called fire service personnel. The fire service personnel, who responded to the emergency call, rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

It is suspected that the spark from nearby electricity wire must have fallen on the dried leaves and caused the fire. The wires kept by local cable suppliers were burnt in the fire.
