Mangaluru: Man held for impersonating police officer, extortion

Mangaluru, Mar 11: A man was arrested on Saturday March 11 for allegedly impersonating a police officer and extorting money from a woman.

The arrested accused is identified as Shivaraj Devadiga, a resident of Ishwar Nagar, Kavoor.

Shivaraj had told Savita that he is a policeman. He threatened Savita that there are complaints that she is running a massage parlour and possesses cash and gold beyond permissible limits.

He demanded money to close the case and to prevent a police raid and obtained Rs 38,000 from Savita.

A case is registered at Kavoor police station in this connection.
