Kasargod: 22-year-old succumbs to injuries after buffalo attack

Kasargod, Mar 10: A 22-year-old man died after a buffalo attacked him at Mogral Puttur, Kasargod.

The deceased is identified as Sadiq from Chitradurga.

The incident took place when the buffalo was being alighted from a vehicle at the slaughterhouse. The animal tried to escape. Meanwhile, Sadiq attempted to capture the furious buffalo. It gored him leading to multiple injuries on his body. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in Mangaluru, but Sadiq succumbed to injuries in the hospital as he failed to respond to the treatment.

It is said that the furious animal created panic among the locals. It also tried to attack the vehicles plying on the road. A two-wheeler rider fell on the road while it tried to attack him. The buffalo which entered a bakery ransacked the shop. Two shops sustained damages. Those who sustained minor injuries returned after undergoing first-aid treatment.

Prior to this, police who rushed to the spot had tried to capture the buffalo. As it was dark they could not capture the animal. It was a tough task for the emergency and fire services officials too. Finally, the buffalo was captured using a rope.
