Karkala: Assets worth Rs 6.6 cr of deceased person transferred by fraud, complaint filed

Karkala, Feb 27: A case is filed in city police station here by Punit Rao, a resident of the city, on Dinesh K and Prasad K of fraudulently transferring crores of rupees of immovable assets, shares and cash in the name of Punit Rao’s father to their names after the death of Punit Rao’s father.

The late Karkala Ashok Rao, father of complainant Punit Rao had various immovable properties around Karkala, in addition to bank deposits and shares. He was living alone in a house in the city and died on July 13, 2020 without making any death will.

Information about the death of Ashok Rao was given to relative Krishna Rao by accused Dinesh K and his wife Manjula. When Krishna Rao and his son came to view the dead body, they found accused Dinesh K and Prasad K near the mortal remains of Ashok Rao. Shailendra Rao, a relative of complainant Punit Rao had informed him of the death of his father. But Punit and his mother could not come down to India as they live abroad and there were Covid restrictions.

In the complaint, it is alleged that accused Dinesh K and Prasad K have got shares and immovable properties in the name of Ashok Rao, father of complainant Punit Rao, worth Rs 4,24,90,548.90 and bank deposits worth Rs 2,20,76,238.81 to their names.
