Moodbidri: Tempo owner fined Rs 1,500 for illegal roadside garbage dumping

Moodbidri, Jul 23: The Hosabettu gram panchayat has imposed a fine of Rs 1,500 on the owner of a tempo for illegally dumping garbage along a roadside.

The violation came to light during a site inspection conducted by gram panchayat PDO Savitha, along with officials from the Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, as part of efforts to maintain cleanliness in the village.

On noticing the illegal dumping, officials immediately initiated action against the vehicle owner, imposed the fine and issued a warning against repeating the offence.

The gram panchayat has appealed to the public not to dispose of waste indiscriminately and to use only designated waste disposal points.

Officials warned that stricter action would be taken against those found violating waste management rules in the future.

Members of the village sanitation committee and local residents also extended their cooperation during the inspection.
