Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 29: Karthik Kashyap, son of former mayor of Mangaluru Shankar Bhat was in the close ring of PM Modi security during the Republic Day parade that was held in New Delhi. He serves as a DIG in the intelligence department.

Karthik is the younger son of Shankar Bhat and Sujatha Bhat, belonging to the reputed Khandige family of Kasargod. After completing his primary, secondary and PU education in Chinmay school and St Aloysius college of Mangaluru, Karthik completed his Civil Engineering from Nitte Engineering College.

Karthik wrote the UPSC examination at the age of 23 and cracked it in his first attempt. He opted for IPS, which was his passion. He chose Gujarat cadre in IPS and served as a police officer in that state.

Karthik is married to his UPSC batchmate Priyanka Kashyap, a native of Chandigarh and has a son and a daughter.

Nothing is waste. People opt to go to engineering colleges instead of regular degree colleges because the quality of students, study atmosphere and exposure what you get in Engg colleges are better than normal degree education. There are many who do engineering and then MBA and finally become business people. Further there are many who do civil engineering and then get in to software etc etc. You people do not understand today's trend and current affair so comment like the way ...

Ghanta kuch farak padega. Govt did the wrong thing by banning it. Instead BJP should have used this to consolidate Modis support. Modis votebank doesent count such propaganda fans. They anyways dont vote for him. For us our judiciary is supreme, not some states broadcasting media.

Simon Bhai. It takes dhum in the 'bxm, to do this. Currently all what the DK opposition can do is, bash online with fake ids or call a press conference . How can you expect support for something in the open?

Last time when news about one of Mangalore based pilot Mr. Michal Saldanha on his mission to bring people from gulf countries during Covid lockdown , many people said waw jai etc etc . Now for this news 'people say' what so great etc etc. This is selective approach and 'banji bene' because of 'nanji'.

Hatred for Modi is so deep that the frustrated are not even acknowledging the growth of a city youth rising through ranks to serve the PM. They continue to abuse, sad commentary indeed. But no worries young man, we are proud of you!

If at all he wanted to become IPS as said, his passion, he should have opted to join Arts(BA) or Commerce (B.Com). then would have applied for UPSC. He wasted one engineering seat. Some oversmart people do this because they do not believe and trust themselves. If not crack UPSC, work as civil engineer without interest in the job.

@ Fernandes Not sure what is your qualification and you really understand the logic As a Civil Engineer i know what it takes become an engineer and which subjects we have to study. Engineering approach helps a lot in preparing UPSC. it is not that suddenly they thought to get into UPSC but a well planned approach (anyhow i dont think you can ever understand this) Also you are saying he wasted one seat....boss there are thousands of engineering seats that go waste every year without any students!!!!! Grow up beyond religion and politics

Why no security for Rahul Gandhi???? Karthik is only doing his duty as it comes in rotation and not by his choice. Is this some sort of cheap election campaigning????…..BTW, why an extremely popular, loved worldwide Vishwaguru needs the world’s highest sophisticated security????. Is it because he was elected by EVMs and not by people???.?.?…..
