Udupi, Jul 22: Students of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Udupi, have secured first place in the prestigious Google Build with Gemma Hackathon, organized by Kaggle and hosted at M S Ramaiah College, Bengaluru, on July 18.

The winning team comprised Anshika (4MW23AI009), Ashley Fernandes, and Chethan V Kotian, under the mentorship of Dr Renita Sharon Monis. The team was awarded a cash prize of USD 425 for their innovative AI-based solution.

The students developed Audit Gemma, an AI-powered compliance and risk assessment platform designed for Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and SME lenders. Built using Google's Gemma AI models, the platform automates financial document analysis, identifies fraud indicators, supports regulatory compliance, and enables faster loan processing, thereby improving efficiency and reducing operational risk in the lending process.

The management, CEO, principal of SMVITM congratulated the winners and their mentor on this remarkable accomplishment and wished them continued success in future national and international competitions.
