Kundapur, Jul 23: The student induction programme for first-year BE students of the 2026–27 academic year was held with great enthusiasm at Moodlakatte Institute of Technology (MITK), Kundapura, on Wednesday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural programme, Alexander R, HR representative of Oracle, said that artificial intelligence (AI) technology would not lead to the loss of jobs. Instead, those who know how to use AI effectively would be able to secure better employment opportunities in the future. He urged students to develop not only communication skills but also the ability to build strong relationships and cultivate a spirit of continuous learning.

College principal Dr Ramakrishna Hegde explained the vision and mission of the institution and said that engineering education was essential to finding solutions to pressing problems in society. He encouraged students to become competent engineers and make a positive contribution to society.

Presiding over the programme, Dr S N Bhat, academic director of IMJ Institutions, advised students to gain knowledge not only in their chosen field of study but also in other disciplines. He said the institution provided a conducive environment for students to develop their overall abilities and wished them success in their academic journey. Dr Vinod Kumar, dean of Research at the institution, advised students to pursue their four years of engineering education with dedication, saying that sincere efforts during this period would pave the way for a bright future.

First-year students, parents, and teaching and non-teaching staff of the college were present. Student Welfare coordinator Sukshma Adiga welcomed the dignitaries and parents. IQAC coordinator Dr Nikhil Pai delivered the vote of thanks, while student Alisha compered the programme.
