Beltangady: Labourer dies after tractor carrying goods overturns

Beltangady, Dec 8: The tractor, which was carrying goods for retaining wall work of vented dam at Bangarapalke of Elaneeru under Malavanthige village, overturned, killing a labourer.

The deceased is identified as Lokesh (32), a native of Chikkamagaluru. Driver Deepak (31) and one more labourer Fakiresh (30) are out of danger.

When iron rods were being transported in the tractor on Wednesday December 7, the tractor fell on labourer Lokesh, who was walking beside it, as the driver lost control over the vehicle.

Lokesh, who was seriously injured, dies on the way to Kalasa hospital. As there is no phone network in the area where the accident took place, locals had to go to quite a distance to make a phone call to Kalasa for ambulance service. Due to the impact of the overturn, engine of tractor got separated from the trolley and fell in nearby farmland.

Beltangady police have visited the spot and are investigating further.
