Mumbai, Sep 22: The Maharashtra State Agricultural Service Federation has announced assistance of Rs 4.5 crore for people affected by drought in the state, with officers and employees of the Agriculture Department deciding to contribute their one-day salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

A total of 14,445 officers and employees of the Maharashtra Agriculture Department have decided to donate their one-day salary towards the drought relief fund. The initiative has been taken to support farmers and families affected by drought conditions.

The Agricultural Service Federation said its officers and employees have always remained committed to serving farmers and have taken the initiative as a gesture of solidarity with the farming community during the difficult situation.

The federation informed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane about the decision through a letter.

The contribution is expected to provide financial support to drought-affected people and strengthen relief efforts being undertaken by the state government.
