Udupi: Man loses Rs 78,500 to online fraudster posing as investment advisor

Udupi, Dec 6: Anush Ravishanker, a resident of city lost Rs 78,500 to an online fraud.

A stranger had telephoned Anush from telephone no 9395641735 and assured him that the latter would be getting double the amount if he invested in mutual fund Trading.

Anush remitted through Google Pay to the bank account mentioned by the stranger, Rs 1,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 6,500 as investment and Rs 9,500, Rs 22,500, Rs 14,500 and Rs 18,500 in stages as security deposit, fixed deposit and refundable security deposit.
The stranger never refunded the total amount of Rs 78,500 remitted by Anush.

A case under registration No. 94/2022 section 66(D) of the IT Act is registered in this connection at the Udupi CEN police station.

    This man must be having surplus money. If it was hard earned, he would have thought twice to send the money to a stranger. Now he will become wise by his foolish act. Once bitten, twice shy. Unless you get beaten, you will not know the pain. He will be careful throughout his life now. It is only by such bitter experiences, that we become wise. Or else we need to learn from others bitter experiences. Sadly, he did not learn anything from so many frauds reported in these days, but due to his greed, he got trapped.
