Mangaluru: Inflammatory graffiti - Ten-day police custody for accused

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 10: In connection with the pro-terrorist slogans which appeared at two places in the city, the two persons who were arrested in the case, were remanded to ten days of police custody on Thursday December 9, to enable the police to undertake in-depth probe in the matter at the request of the police.

Shaarik and Maz Munir Ahammed who were arrested in the case by the police are natives of Thirthahalli. The two had been subjected to coronavirus tests. As the report had not reached the police, they could not be produced in the court on Tuesday.

The police have taken into custody mobile phones from the two accused and a laptop belonging to Maz. They have been handed over to experts to retrieve the data. The information in the laptop are likely to help the police to strengthen their case.

It is said that Shaarik, who has been treated as the main accused, was in constant contact with a person from abroad and had authored the graffiti at the advice of this person. He used to communicate with the other person through internet calls and there are reports that he was involved with a WhatsApp group with terrorist leanings.

Shaarik's relative, Sadat, who also has been taken into custody, is being questioned. He is said to have encouraged Shaarik to indulge in the act. The police on Wednesday held a meeting under the leadership of city police commissioner Vikash Kumar, to discuss the angles in which investigations can be held. Assistant commissioner of police, Jagannath, who is the investigating officer, and officials who are involved with the probe, participated in the meeting.

Sources said that the accused came off as decent persons during their questioning but did not respond properly to the questions. They are well-versed with Kannada, English, Hindi and Urdu besides having good knowledge of technology. But they were seen hesitating from providing details of their backgrounds. However, the initial feeling is that they undertook the task of creating graffiti in the city with the aim of attracting attention and getting good publicity.

The accused, in addition to other sections, are also being tried for unlawful assembly, sources said. Subject to the seriousness of the activities of the accused which may be revealed with in-depth investigation, even the National Investigation Agency might come into the picture.

इसके पीछे कोई राज़ तो छुपा है । Looks strange and musterious case. Youths from descent and well educated families and that too are well aware of the fact that due to their such stupid action they will be traced easily and detain and yet they went for unlawful task to become talk of the media.

Looks it is an deliberate attempt which need to be unleashed and interesting thing to be noted that right wing radical groups yet to come across this incident.

Thourough in depth investigation is need of time.

Mithun Rai and the Congress are now just mute spectators. No statement no press conference. They claim to be the saviours and protectors of Tulunadu Culture and get on to the streets to rename an airport, bank , road or what not.
But when a more serious , sensitive and dangerous stuff like terror sympathizing happens they are quiet. Apparently t449hey just want to keep their vote bank intact.

POlice have arrested innocents and claiming that they have arrested 2 terrorists.

Police will say that accused youths are perfectly well whereas person planted bomb at mangalore airport is mentally sick and he did not do it for any purpose and police did not link him to any terrorist group.

In the current, police is saying that they are having link with terrorists from other country and were in touch with them .

Police would have told these 2 youths as mentally sick in case they belong to majority community.

I think these 2 kids are arrested ciz police are stil unable to find the real people behind it. Police should look for the real culprints behind these graffiti and disclose their names to public.

Few moderate ones, try to be practical and not fall for it, out of respect to the consitution or fear of the law. Some induldge in these activiities directly , while other will either defend them as "kids" or support them behind the curtains like their NRI masters.

Shaji bhai !!! It would be prudent, if you ask your Kerala government, to clean up, the hotbeds of radicalism, which has taken firm roots, especially in North Kerala !!! Their evil, poisonous tentacles, have spread in South India and even across India !!!!!

These individuals who are under custody, are definitely not innocent tiny toddlers, prancing around, spraying meaningless innuendos, on the walls of public utilities, in Mangaluru city !!!

no any question but conclusion is that they are in touch with terrorists..

if the same was done by other part y like placing a bomb at airport risking several life and he was mentally ill.

But anyways these kids should learn lesson that what godi media says isnt true and do not believe and fall for prey. Muslims and hindus are still brothers and good neighbors too. everything above is humanity and be a human first
