Daijiworld Media Network - Madikeri (MS)

Madikeri, Nov 22: People at an exam hall here were witness to a unique sight on Sunday November 22. Amidst tense faces and students chanting last minute prayers was a decked up bride, all set to answer her paper!

Generally bride and bridegroom set aside all their jobs pending to be done after marriage. However, this newly married woman rushed to the examination center in bridal wear as soon as the marriage rituals were over, to answer competitive exam.

The examination was being held in government junior college of the city for various posts of DCC bBnk of Kodagu. Swati, a resident of Ashokapuram extension in the city, was the centre of attraction as she appeared for the examination in bridal attire.

Swati's marriage was scheduled for November 22. However, the same day was fixed for the competitive examination to be held for various positions in Kodagu DCC Bank. Swati hence had no other option but to go through the marriage ritual as well as take the examination. She rushed to the examination centre immediately after the marriage.

There were two muhurats for the marriage. One was between 6 am to 7 am while the other was at 12 noon. Initially it was decided to hold the marriage at 12 noon muhurat. However, due to the exam, the same was finished at 7 am so that Swati could rush to the examination centre.

Swati said, "I have been preparing for the examfor a year. So I was hell bent on appearing for it. There was a little pressure as it was my wedding day. But no one gets such an opportunity."

Swati's husband Suresh expressed full support for her decision to take the exam on their wedding day, and even escorted her to the exam centre. "We can get married anytime but exams will not wait for us. So I myself escorted her to the examination hall," he said.

Such things happen with persons not knowing what their priorities are. If only she had known that marriage can wait, but exams cannot, she could have answered the exam without any stress and entered into wedlock at leisure.

    I 100% agree with you...
She should have finished the competitive exam first and then arranged marriage some other day.
I fear, exam and marriage preparation may not complement each other....

Anyway, god bless her and hope she will score well in the exam

Why pen negative thoughts instead of appreciation. Wishing the bridal couple all the best for the future.
They are role models for all, the young & the old, in setting their priorities right in this pandemic situation.
