Bengaluru: High court refuses permission to entrust Amulya Leona case to NIA

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 29: The state high court (HC), in clear terms, refused permission to hand over investigation into the sedition case filed against Amulya Leona Noronha to National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigation. Amulya was booked for raising slogan hailing Pakistan during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The petition filed by Mandya-based advocate, Vishal Raghu, seeking to hand over the above investigation to NIA came up before the division bench of the HC headed by Chief Justice A S Oka on Tuesday.

Amulya Leona Noronha

The bench which scrutinized the points mentioned in the petition observed that a scrutiny of the criminal acts mentioned in the first information report makes it prima facie clear that the nature of the case is not serious enough to deserve NIA investigation. It said that there is no need for it and disposed the petition.

The bench, observing earlier that the advocate for the petitioner had absented from the hearing, expressed strong disapproval.

Amulya Leona, who raised pro-Pakistan slogan during the anti CAA protest, had been arrested by Upparpet police on February 20 earlier this year and conducted investigation.

What will High court do with her and refusing permission to entrust to NIA..I find this girl a teenager spoiled her life for ever by shouting pro Pak,slogan.I think it was only a childish like action, but not really seriously.she had no backing or any other cases of past.Let that girl please out.having locked nothing happens.only cases courts.Instead arrest people who are more dangerous who lately killing, raping and those who give warning to politicians. They are more dangerous to the community and still roaming about-Let this girl not end in jail but form her life instead of from Govt jails soupe .and taxpayers money.

The provision of sedition is being misused and needs to be Banned. IPC is sufficient to deal with such cases.

What about Hundreds of Indian fans cheering for the Pakistan team in our stadiums during a cricket match in a display of True Sportmanship and Broad mindedness that is Unique to our Civilisation. CCTV footage of all matches in India should be retracted and those cheering Pakistan should be tried with the charge of sedition if we have to view such cheering with a Narrow Minded approach.

if she would have belongs to other Hindu community, she would have arrested but no case nothing,

when other Hindu girl was arrested for the same case, there was no news about her? why there is partiality in this regard.

The High Court said correctly, there is no need to handover case to NIA since she was not done any terrorist activity just like Pragya Thakur has committed ?

First of all those who are supporting Amulya --- did you check whether she has repented for her sloganeering act?
If she is still adamant and sticking to her view then she needs more "treatment " mentally and physically.

If she is repenting and spilling the beans , the master minds needs to be brought to book.
This discussion about supporting her for being a teenager is humbug and very divisive - if she is still having the same view point.

It is unfortunate that Amulya committed a blunder by shouting pro-Pakistan slogans during the AntI-CAA protest. She has been paying a very heavy price for it. However , is it necessary for the authorities to hand over the case to NIA? Treason case can be handled by the local police and the court. Let the courts handle this case and punish her according to the law of the land. Let justice prevail. Jai Hind.
