HRD ministry postpones NEET, JEE-Mains to September amid coronavirus scare

New Delhi, Jul 3: Sensing the rise in coronavirus cases across India, the HRD ministry on Friday, July 3 announced the postponement of medical and engineering exams -- NEET and JEE. As per the announcement the related exams will be held in the month of September.

"Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations. The JEE-Main examination will be held between September 1-6, while JEE-advanced exam will be held on September 27. NEET examination will be held on September 13," said Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'.

Meanwhile, before the new date for NEET was announced, the medical entrance exam was scheduled for July 26, while the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Mains for admission to engineering colleges was to be held from July 18-23.

Prior to the announcement, the JEE-Advanced, which is a mandatory exam for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), was scheduled for August 23.
