Bhopal, Jul 29: Farmers in Madhya Pradesh continued their protest on the Bhopal-Narmadapuram highway, demanding complete procurement of moong crop at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The protesters have vowed to continue their sit-in until their demands are addressed by the state government.

The agitation, led by farmer organisations under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, intensified as farmers marched towards Bhopal seeking assurances on procurement of their produce. The farmers have been demanding 100 per cent procurement of moong at MSP, along with reforms in the fertiliser distribution system.

The protesters staged a sit-in on the highway, affecting traffic movement, while security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order. Farmers said they would remain at the protest site until the government gives a concrete assurance on their demands.

The farmers have alleged that limited procurement under the existing system has left many growers struggling to sell their harvest at a fair price. They have demanded that the government ensure procurement of the entire moong crop at MSP and address issues related to the e-token system and fertiliser availability.

The Madhya Pradesh government has held discussions with farmer representatives and assured that steps would be taken to address their concerns. However, farmer leaders have maintained that the protest will continue until written assurances are provided.

The ongoing agitation has emerged as a major challenge for the state administration, with farmers continuing their protest movement in support of their agricultural demands.
