Mangaluru: Police take suspicious-looking car into custody

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The police had recently found a car that was being used by a gang of robbers with fake number plate and signage of crime investigation agency of the central government. On Saturday August 17 evening, they found another vehicle bearing suspicious number plate. The car in question bears Punjab registration number plate and the words, Government of India, were found written on its number plate.

It is said that the car had a driver and another person.

On account of high alert issued in the state, the police are undertaking elaborate checking of vehicles. The traffic police had noticed on Friday that a car with Punjab registration number was moving around the city. When they stopped and checked, the number plate looked suspicious. For further investigation, the car was handed over to Barke police station. The police said that they are continuing with the investigation are yet to arrive at a conclusion.
