Sustainable fashion in limelight at Fair Trade Forum India


New Delhi. Nov 11 (IANS): The ongoing Fair Trade Forum - India hosted a fashion show titled 'Style me Sustainable' that witnessed clothes made from natural fabrics and fibres, grabbing attention.

Fair Trade Forum - India and World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) hosted the show at the National Institute of Fashion Technology here on Friday night.

It showcased ensembles made from natural fabrics and fibres with an attempt to send a strong message about setting trends via traditional crafts. The guest of honour for the evening was Muralidhar Rao, National General Secretary, BJP.

Also present were diplomats and ambassadors from Bulgaria, Vietnam, Indonesia and Kyrgyzstan.

The event focused on creating awareness about slow and sustainable fashion by showcasing trendy ensembles created through the fusion of sustainable fabrics, traditional techniques and modern designs.

"We are proud to launch the artisan movement for New India and aim to showcase the work of our fair trade groups and Northeast artisans. We are sure that the support from different embassies and Ministry of DONER and Textiles will give the required impetus to sustainable fashion and the artisans behind it," said Iytha Mallikarjuna, President, Fair Trade Forum - India.

The show emphasised on making the production environmentally-friendly and fair regarding the treatment of its producers.
