‘Matka King’ trailer out: Vijay Varma’s gritty rise in 1960s Bombay set for April 17 release

Mumbai, Apr 7: The makers of the much-awaited web series Matka King have unveiled its trailer, offering a gripping glimpse into the life of a small-time trader who rises through the world of gambling in post-independence Bombay.

Starring Vijay Varma in the lead, the series follows Brij Bhatti, a cotton trader struggling to make ends meet, who turns to gambling and gradually transforms it into a powerful network intertwined with politics, crime, and ambition.

The trailer showcases Bhatti’s journey from hardship to influence, as his pursuit of wealth pulls him into a dangerous world marked by betrayal and power struggles. Actors Sai Tamhankar and Kriti Kamra are also seen playing key roles in the series.

Sharing his experience, Varma described the project as a deeply fulfilling journey, highlighting the challenges of portraying a character set in a different era. He also expressed excitement about reuniting with Prime Video after previous projects.

Directed by Nagraj Manjule and Abhay Koranne, the series explores themes of ambition, power, and the cost of success.

The show also features Gulshan Grover, along with a strong ensemble cast including Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and others.

‘Matka King’ is set to premiere on April 17 on Prime Video, and will be available to audiences in India and across 240 countries worldwide.
